We have been inspired by the scents and smell which surround us.

The scents we have chosen for our handpoured Candles, Reed Diffusers and Votives all originate in some small way from the flora and fauna that surrounds us and when choosing them we are inspired by the scents and smells that we’ve loved since childhood.  

In The Cotswolds we are fortunate enough to have several stunning gardens right on our doorstep none more so than Hidcote Manor Gardens, a spectacular National Trust property, a hidden gem tucked away between Chipping Campden, Mickleton and Broadway.

The celebrated gardens at Hidcote Manor were lovingly and meticulously created by the American Major Lawrence Johnston who went to endless trouble and expense to find unusual varieties that would bring colour, scent, shape and texture to the garden at Hidcote.

Johnston was a great traveller and visited faraway places like the Alps, South Africa and China. He also exchanged plants with gardeners in far-flung countries from Australia to Japan and carefully selected only the finest varieties to bring back to his treasured garden at Hidcote Manor, nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The gardens at Hidcote are divided into a series of ‘outdoor rooms’, each with its own character. They say that the further away from the house you get the softer and less formal the garden becomes. Formal gardens near the house with elegant but structured borders full of a glorIous array of plants in every colour imaginable make way for wilder, more relaxed planting, kitchen gardens and rock gardens and even a tennis court, fully restored and available to use at your leisure as a visiting guest!

Visiting

We love to visit the garden at all times of year (opening times permitted) and we watch the garden change with the seasons. Our favourite time of year is the Summer when the Sweet Peas are in full bloom and the colour-coded borders are at their peak of beauty. Again in early summer, May offers a breathtaking vision along the various blousy Peony borders where dozens of assorted Peony varieties are flanked by tall trees with the Summer sun peeping through.

A visit to Hidcote is either a full day out or a half day when combined with visiting one of the great choice of Cotswold villages all within a couple of Miles; Chipping Campden, Broadway and Mickleton, 3 of the Cotswold’s finest destinations combine to make an altogether perfect Cotswold experience.

Eating & Shopping at Hidcote

As you would expect from a National Trust property, there’s a choice of two restaurants at Hidcote as well as a well-stocked gift shop and plant centre to take away a memory or two, or plant one back home!
